In 1998 our farm began rehabilitating a portion of the original Denman Dairy Farm back to its original fertile soil. Our meadows sit at the toe of Whitehorse Mountain. We opened our fruit stand in July 2006. We sell direct from the fruit stand and in town at farmers markets. The seasonal locations of our farmers markets are kept updated on the Market Locations page. Our products include fresh blueberries, Blueberry Mango Chutney, Blueberry Mango Salsa, and Blueberry Lemon Preserve.

Blueberries

We sell three varieties of certified organic blueberries:

This plant produces a large, flavorful berry, with firm consistency that freezes well. They have been less popular as a large production fruit since they are somewhat particular about their environment. Once happily settled in they mature into a full highbush blueberry with lush foliage, high fruit yield, excellent fresh flavor, and beautiful red canes in winter. Although Spartan blooms late, it is the first fruit on at our farm starting in the second week of July and producing for approximately 6 weeks.
Although there have been many varities of blueberry introduced since 1912, Rubels remain as an outstanding wild variety that is smaller, deep blue, with a highly intense blueberry flavor that provides excellent fresh eating, exceptional sweetness in cooking, and stability in freezing. Rubel is higher in antioxidant properties than many other blueberry varieties and this may well be because it has not experienced engineering for agricultural purposes. Rubels begins to ripen in the fourth week of July and continue through September.
Jersey is a long-standing market favorite that begins ripening in mid- August and keeps on coming through September. It produces a sweet fruit of medium size (similar to the size most frequently found in the supermarket produce section) that provides excellent fresh eating and adds that extra bit of sweet freshness to salads and sauces.

Blueberry Lemon Preserve

This lemony preserve brings you the blue skies and sunshine of the Northwest. It is a pectin-free preserve in which the fruits are cooked down to bring you a product that tastes somewhat closer to a marmalade than expected. It is delicious served as a preserve at breakfast or tea time and provides a scrumptious addition to cheese.

Blueberry Mango Chutney

In the classic chutney tradition this sweet spiced condiment pairs beautifully with fish, poultry, pork and lamb and provides an added flair to cheese, coucous, rice or maybe even that leftover turkey sandwich. It is year round good and adds a delicious and sophisticated balance of fruit, curry and spices to festive ocassions.

Blueberry Mango Salsa

Here's a Northwest spin on mild salsa. This perky salsa is sweet, sassy and delightful. While it does very nicely with chips, it provides the flavor bonus and beautiful color you're looking for with cheeses or as a flavoring in salad dressing. It's just asking you to be a creative thinker when it comes to salsa.
